I think I was lulled into a false sense of being mobile yesterday. It\u2019s quite difficult to get up and hobble about the house and uncomfortable sitting on the sofa. There\u2019s a sharpness in the wound when I move.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watched <em>The Lost Ghost Story<\/em>, a 2013 documentary about the life of M.R. James with Mark Gatiss. It\u2019s very good: combining extracts from dramatisations with Gatiss\u2019 recount of James\u2019 life, interviews and commentary. Gatiss draws heavily on James\u2019 biography, especially James\u2019 apparent repressed (?) homosexuality to explain the aspects of the stories. Gatiss is superb infectious in his enthusiasm for James and his supernatural stories. The shots of a smartly-dressed Gatiss cycling along country lanes by rural churches are delightful. Gatiss is lyrical about his love for the 1970s BBC adaptations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recovering from surgery at home.
